About Us

South Street is a free and independent church in the Evangelical Tradition.  We are self governing and self supporting.  We belong to the Evangelical Alliance and support the Churches Together Group in Braunton. We are also members of Partnership, a loose national affiliation of Evangelical churches with a background similar to our own.

We have in our congregation Christians who come from a variety of church traditions and we warmly welcome into our church services those who are seeking God but as yet have no certain personal faith.   Our aim is to introduce people to Jesus Christ and to encourage each other in our Christian discipleship.   We are a growing church with a special place for families and in our services all age groups are represented.

The church is led by team of Elders.  They are responsible for the overall strategic direction of the church and for its spiritual health and growth. The Elders are Seb Latimer, Richard Francis and Tim Spelman.

House Groups

South Street Church is a church made up of house groups. Each house group is a small mutually supportive worshipping community being transformed by God's love, learning how to follow Jesus together, bringing transformation to our locality by serving others needs, supporting and loving people and sharing life with them.

If you would like help finding a house group please get in touch.

As a church community, we are walking together with a dream of becoming a spiritual family where people can belong before they believe and where the young in faith are nurtured and supported.

We hope that as a community and individuals we will:

  • share life with every person in Braunton and enable them to taste and see God’s goodness for themselves.
  • be a worshipping community of living faith, who love and support others, provoking an open-minded inquisitive response and who then invite their friends on a journey of faith.
  • be a community of people who point towards a different future.
  • share about Jesus Christ and the way he is daily at work in our lives.
  • encourage people in their gifts, build them up, nurture them, grow disciples and multiply to have a tangible presence at various emerging areas.

We hope you find South Street Church to be a community where everyone in the family will be encouraged to serve and develop their God given gifts and abilities.
